About Fuchu Town
Fuchu Town, Aki District, Hiroshima Prefecture, is located in the southwestern part of the prefecture, adjacent to Hiroshima City. Because the surrounding areas merged with Hiroshima City, the town now stands alone within the city. The Kamiokada Tomb was excavated in Fuchu Town, Aki District. It is a town steeped in history, home to Taya Shrine, one of Aki Province's three major shrines. Local events include the Yamada Cow-Chasing Festival in spring, the Kappo Festival in autumn, and the Fuchu Camellia Festival. Tourist attractions include Mizubunkyo Forest Park, where you can enjoy nature with a campsite; Imadegawa Shimizu, one of Japan's 100 famous waters; the ruins of Sosha Shrine; the ruins of Ishii Castle; and Doryuji Temple, where the seated statue of Yakushi Nyorai (Healing Buddha) is designated a prefectural important cultural property.
