Tatebayashi City is blessed with a natural environment, including the Watarase River, Tone River, and Shironuma Pond. During the Edo period, it flourished as a castle town around Tatebayashi Castle. It is said that the traditional Japanese event of Shichi-Go-San spread from Tatebayashi Castle. In spring, the Koinobori Village Festival is held, with over 5,000 carp streamers floating in the spring breeze throughout the city. Many other events are also held, including the Azalea Festival, Cherry Blossom Festival, and Tatebayashi Festival. Other tourist attractions include the Children's Science Museum, The Treasure Garden, and Tatebayashi Museum of Art. In winter, you can observe graceful swans wintering at Tatara Pond and Shironuma Pond. Local specialties include Tatebayashi udon noodles, Shoda soy sauce, and eggplant.
