Ota City is the third most populous city in Gunma Prefecture and thrives as an industrial city. With Kanayama towering over the city center, the Tone River, and the Watarase River, the city is blessed with abundant greenery and water resources, and agriculture is also practiced. Local specialties include Yamato yams and small watermelons. The vast Ota City Northern Sports Park hosts the Ota Shibazakura Festival every year, where moss phlox and azaleas bloom in full bloom. In the summer, the Ota Summer Festival, Ojima Nebuta Festival, and Nitta Festival are held, attracting many tourists. The city also boasts numerous tourist attractions, including the Kanayama Castle Ruins, where visitors can learn about the Sengoku period; the Nittasho Ruins, a nationally designated archaeological site; and Gunma Children's Park.
