Toki City, Gifu Prefecture, is located in the southeastern part of Gifu Prefecture. Approximately 70% of the city's 116.01 square kilometers are hilly, making it a city brimming with lush greenery and nature. In recent years, the construction of the Tokaido Expressway and Chuo Expressway has made commuting to Nagoya easier, and the city is developing as a commuter town for Nagoya. Toki City is rich in clay for high-quality ceramics, and its specialty, Mino ware, has a 1,300-year history and is a traditional craft that continues to be passed down today. In an effort to share this traditional craft with more people, there are tourist facilities offering pottery experiences, which are very popular with tourists. There are also many other famous places of interest, such as Hachiman Shrine and Animal Kannon Sansen-in Temple, affectionately known as the Pet Temple.
