Mizuho City is conveniently located, about 25 minutes by Shinkansen from Nagoya. With many first-class rivers flowing through it, the city has an abundant water source. Since merging with other cities in 2005, the region has been further revitalized. Agriculture has been the main industry, and ginkgo nuts and persimmons are local specialties. Tourist attractions include Fujikuro Ginkgo and Beppu Kannon. The ginkgo trees that can be seen at Fujikuro Ginkgo are designated natural monuments and are extremely valuable. The ginkgo nuts harvested here are large and heavy, and can be preserved for a long time.
