Yaotsu Town, Kamo District, Gifu Prefecture, borders Ena City and Minokamo City and is located in the south-central part of the prefecture. It is rich in nature, with mountains such as Mt. Miyuki, rivers such as the Kiso River, and dams. It has merged with other regions in the past to form its present state. Manufacturing and food processing are thriving, producing sake, miso, and soy sauce. Agriculture is also common, primarily vegetable and rice cultivation. Local events include the Yaotsu Danjiri Festival, held in spring, and the Kudami Festival, also held in spring. Tourist attractions include Jindo-no-Oka Park, the Chiune Sugihara Memorial Museum, and the Myokyo-ji Kannon Hall, a designated national important cultural property. Kamishiroda has been selected as one of Japan's 100 best rice terraces.
