About Sakahogi Town
Sakahogi Town, Kamo District, a municipality in Gifu Prefecture, borders Aichi Prefecture across the Kiso River, a rare sight on the Japanese Rhine. The Kiso River flows through the center of town, and the area is generally covered with hills. Numerous ruins and ancient tombs have been excavated in the area, suggesting that the town has existed since ancient times. Salvia and nandina are symbols of the area. Sightseeing spots include the Sarutaku Castle Ruins, Sakahogi Shrine, and the Hizuka Tomb. The Kiso River, which can be seen along the Japan Rhine Romantic Road, is said to resemble the Rhine. The entire route is about 4km long, and while you can enjoy spectacular views by driving, many people also enjoy it as a walking spot.
