About Hashima City
Hashima City has a station where the Shinkansen stops. It is the only municipality in Gifu Prefecture with such a station. The city is located on the Nobi Plain, with most of the city area being sandy. It is also known for the seasonal winds known as Ibuki oroshi that blow from Mount Ibuki in winter. The city also has neighboring municipalities outside of Gifu Prefecture, including Ichinomiya City and Inazawa City in Aichi Prefecture. Agriculture is practiced in the city, with rice being the mainstay of that agriculture. Hatsushimo rice, a variety unique to Gifu Prefecture, is produced here. Persimmons and strawberries are also produced in large quantities. The city has a variety of tourist attractions, including Takegahana Castle and Takegahana Castle.
