About Gifu City
Gifu City is located in the south-central part of Gifu Prefecture. It is designated as a core city and is the prefectural capital. The northern part is covered with forests, while the southern part is urban. The Nagara River, one of Japan's three cleanest rivers, flows through the city. Neighboring municipalities include Seki City, Yamagata City, Motosu City, and Mizuho City. The city's tourist attractions include Gifu Park, which is home to museums, art galleries, and the Kinkazan Ropeway, as well as Kanojuku, Plum Grove Park, and Nagaragawa Onsen. Regional events include the Mieji Temple Festival in March, the Gifu Festival in April, and the Nagaragawa National Fireworks Festival in August.
