About Tarui Town
Tarui Town, Fuwa County, Gifu Prefecture, is an area with deep ties to Takenaka Shigeharu, who was active during the Sengoku period. With excellent transportation options, including the Tokaido Shinkansen, the town has developed as a commuter town for Gifu City, the prefecture's center. The amount of snowfall in winter is so high that it's registered in the Guinness Book of World Records, and blizzards can occur along the coast. Tourist attractions in the area include Nangu Taisha Shrine, a historic building dating back to the Edo period that has been designated an Important Cultural Property. Around Aikawa Waterfront Park, the Somei Yoshino cherry trees bloom, creating a tunnel of cherry blossoms, creating a spectacular view. In late May, you can see many carp streamers flying into the sky.
