About Anpachi Town
Anpachi Town, Anpachi District, is located in southwest Gifu Prefecture. Located in the northwestern part of the Nobi Plain, the town is sandwiched between three rivers and has a long, narrow shape. Previously, flooding was common, but the construction of levees and the development of ring-shaped rivers have reduced the damage. Agriculture is thriving, with rice, vegetables, poultry, and dairy farming. Musubi Shrine and Unato Shrine, both dedicated to the god of matchmaking, are popular tourist attractions. Another popular spot is Anpachi Plum Garden, home to over 1,200 plum trees. Many varieties of plums can be enjoyed from December to April. Anpachi Garden Fairs include photography sessions and haiku contests. The town is also home to Solar Ark, a large solar power generation facility opened by Sanyo Electric in 2002.
