Miharu Town in Tamura County is home to two rivers, the Yashima River and the Otakine River, as well as the Miharu Dam. Neighboring municipalities include Koriyama City and Tamura City. This area once flourished as the castle town of the Miharu Domain. Major local specialties include Miharu horses and Miharu dolls. Miharu horses are known as traditional crafts and local toys. The town also has manufacturing industries, with several manufacturing plants located within the town. Famous sites include the Miharu Takizakura and Maizuru Castle. The Miharu Takizakura, in particular, is one of Japan's three largest cherry trees and is also designated as a national natural monument.
