About Tamura City
Tamura City is located in the central Nakadori region of Fukushima Prefecture. Its mountains include Mt. Utsugatake, Mt. Katasone, and Mt. Otakine, and its river is the Otakine River. It is a relatively new city formed in 2005 through the merger of four towns and one village, and serves as the junction between the Nakadori and Hamadori regions. The city's climate is typical of the inland mountainous areas of Japan, with little rain or snowfall. There are many scenic spots throughout the city offering panoramic views of the Abukuma Plateau, allowing visitors to truly experience the splendor of the highland landscape. Agriculture is the main industry, with rice, vegetables, and livestock farming thriving. Additionally, with the development of the Ban'etsu Expressway and other road networks in the planning district, the city is actively working to revitalize the region.
