About Sukagawa City
Located in the center of Fukushima Prefecture's Nakadori region, Sukagawa City is bordered by Mt. Utsubo, the Abukuma River, and the Shakado River. Dating back to the Paleolithic period, the city has flourished as a strategic location in the Tohoku region since ancient times, as evidenced by the Otsujigataki Waterfall ruins and the ruins of the Jindan Temple, a national historic site. From the Kamakura period onward, it flourished as a castle town for the Nikaido clan, and during the Edo period, it flourished as one of the leading post towns on the Oshu Kaido highway.
