Iitate Village, Soma County, is located in the Abukuma Highlands and neighbors Date City, Soma City, Minamisoma City, Namie Town, Futaba County, and Kawamata Town, Date County. The village does not have an ocean. It receives little precipitation in winter and has a climate characteristic of the Pacific coast. The village is also home to many mountains, the highest of which is approximately 900 meters above sea level. Iitate Village, Soma County, is famous for producing Japanese Black beef. This beef is called Iitate Beef. Flowers such as lisianthus are also famous as local specialties. Other tourist attractions include beautiful waterfront areas such as Mount Hanatsuka, selected as one of the 100 famous mountains of Utsukushima, as well as the Mano Dam and Iwabe Dam.
