About Showa Village

Showa Village in Onuma County is known as a producer of the perennial plant "ramie." The village is home to the Ramie Craft Museum, which displays ramie and historical materials, providing an in-depth look at ramie weaving, which has been used since the Jomon period. Other attractions include the Orihime Exchange Center and the Local Food Heritage Museum. Showa Village is surrounded by mountains such as Hakaseyama, and is home to an abundance of wild vegetables and mushrooms. Agriculture is also practiced, with Aizu rice being grown. A popular tourist spot is Komatome Marsh, a nationally designated natural monument. Here, a variety of plants, including Asian skunk cabbage, cotton grass, and day lilies, bloom in full bloom. In autumn, the autumn leaves are at their peak, attracting many visitors.
