About Motomiya City
Motomiya City, located in the central Nakadori region of Fukushima Prefecture, was formed in 2007 through the merger of one town and one village. The Abukuma River flows through the center of the city, dividing it into two distinct regions. The Ou Mountains lie to the west. In the past, the city was the starting point of the Aizu Kaido, as well as the Miharu Kaido and Soma Kaido roads, and it was a well-known post town. Agriculture is a thriving industry, with high-quality koshihikari rice produced using the city's fertile rice paddies. Poultry farming and sericulture are also thriving, with sericulture tools designated as national tangible monuments. Specialties of the city include Motomiya natto, Motomiya Torihone chicken, and grated yam. Tourist attractions include Adatara Shrine.
