About Tadami Town
Tadami Town, Minamiaizu District, borders four towns and villages in Fukushima Prefecture and three cities and towns in Niigata Prefecture. Known for its heavy snowfall, 94% of the town is covered in forest. The Tadami River flows through the town, and the Okutadami Dam, Tagokura Dam, and Kurodani Dam are popular tourist attractions. The Tadami Beech and River Museum displays beech trees and insect specimens. The town's major event, the Hometown Snow Festival, is held every February, attracting over 20,000 visitors annually. During the festival, large snow sculptures and snow huts line the square in front of Tadami Station, and numerous events, including a boot-throwing contest, a large portable shrine, and a fireworks display, create a lively atmosphere. Wild vegetables and mushrooms are among Tadami Town's specialties.
