About Yanaizu Town
Yanaizu Town, Kawanuma County, located in the western part of the Aizu region, once flourished as a temple town. Today, this temple town has transformed into the bustling Yanaizu Onsen hot spring resort. Mount Hakase to the south of town, and the Tadami River and Takidani River to the north, allow visitors to experience the rich natural beauty of the four seasons. Yanaizu Town, Kawanuma County, is known as the "place where Akabeko was dispatched," due to a legend that a herd of red-haired cows rescued people from the great earthquake that struck the Aizu region in 1611. The town boasts numerous tourist attractions, including Fukuman Kokuzo Bosatsu, Okunoin Bentendo, and the Kubota Thirty-three Kannon temples, as well as spacious parks and hot spring facilities. Local specialties include awa manju (millet buns), Hakase soba noodles made with water from Mount Hakase, and traditional crafts such as intricate carvings.
