About Kunimi Town
Kunimi Town in Date County has developed around agriculture, and many crops, including rice and vegetables, are grown there. However, fruit cultivation is particularly popular, with cherries, plums, and peaches being cultivated. An agricultural market is held every year on May 5th, where many of these local specialties are sold and the town is bustling with visitors. Kunimi Town also has excellent transportation access, serving the Tohoku Shinkansen and National Route 4, as well as the Kunimi Interchange on the Tohoku Longitudinal Expressway, making it an important transportation hub. The town's signature festival is the Kashima Shrine Annual Festival, held every October, which sees the entire town transformed into a festive atmosphere. The Kunimi Town Yoshitsune Festival, inspired by the decisive Oshu Battle, is also popular.
