Hirokawa Town, Yame District, is home to the Hirokawa Interchange on the Kyushu Expressway, a major artery for Kyushu, and as such, the Hirokawa Core Industrial Park has been formed in the town's center. The Kurume-Hirokawa New Industrial Park has also been formed, and the town is developing as an industrial city. Meanwhile, away from the center, traditional farming areas spread out, where many crops such as strawberries and grapes are grown. The main leisure spots in Hirokawa Town, Yame District, are the Hirokawa Dam and Hirokawa Dam Park. In spring, you can see beautiful rows of cherry blossoms, and in summer, it is a popular resting spot for townspeople, where you can enjoy forest bathing and fishing. The traditional craft is Kurume Kasuri, made using time-honored traditional methods.
