Itoda Town in Tagawa County, located almost in the center of Fukuoka Prefecture, borders other cities and towns within the prefecture. The Nakamotoji River and the Kure River flow through the town, making it a thriving agricultural region. Local specialties include cherry tomatoes and strawberries, as well as the Muso Kiln and Tohei Kiln woodcrafts. One of the town's most popular tourist attractions is the Iwaya Kofun, constructed in the late 6th century and home to numerous pottery artifacts. Other notable sites include the Itoda Castle Ruins, Mizuochi Falls, the Border Stone, and a monument bearing a haiku by Santoka. Every May, the town hosts the Itoda Gion Yamakasa, an event with over 300 years of history. This grand festival sees people carrying floats up to 9 meters tall parade through the town, attracting many spectators.
