About Tagawa City
Tagawa City, Fukuoka Prefecture, is located in the northeastern part of the prefecture. Surrounded by mountains on three sides—Mount Hiko to the south, the Fukuchi Mountains to the north, and Mount Kahuran to the east—it's a lush, central city. Its main industries are rice-based agriculture, vegetables, fruit, and livestock farming of cattle, pigs, and poultry. Tourist attractions include the huge ancient tomb, Natsuyoshi Tomb No. 21, where a three-pronged sword handle was excavated, and Shiratori Fureai Nature Park, where you can observe a variety of wild birds, including the Japanese bush warbler and the great reed warbler, both of which are designated as endangered species. Tagawa City is also known as the setting for "Gate of Youth," based on the novel by Hiroyuki Itsuki, and "Tokyo Tower: Mom and Me, and Sometimes Dad," based on the original novel by Lily Franky and adapted into a TV drama and film.
