Omuta City is located at the southernmost tip of Fukuoka Prefecture. It is also a designated public health city. It borders Miyawaka City, Arao City, and Nankan Town in Kumamoto Prefecture. It is blessed with abundant nature, including rivers and mountains. The west side of the city faces the Ariake Sea, offering views of Mount Unzen on clear days. Tourist attractions include Enmei Park, Omuta City Zoo, Jorinji Temple, and Refres Omuta. Usukaburi is held in January, the Fukoji Plum Festival in February and March, and the Omuta Nijuka Ebisu Festival in March. The Omuta Summer Festival "Daijayama" held in July is particularly popular, attracting many tourists every year. Local specialties include Kamiuchi mandarins, Shibao mandarins, Fukuoka nori seaweed, and Miike takana mustard. The city's tree is the sawtooth oak, and its flower is the wild camellia.
