Ogori City is located in southern Fukuoka Prefecture, bordering Saga Prefecture. Housing development is progressing in the northern part of the city, and the population is on the rise. The city is also very well-connected, with National Route 3, National Route 500, the Kyushu Expressway, and the Tosu Interchange all nearby. Tourist attractions include Shiroyama Park, the Kyushu Historical Museum, and Tanabata Shrine. Many festivals, such as mole hunting, the Shogun Wisteria Festival, and the Gion Festival, are also held here, attracting many visitors. Local specialties include duck dishes and Tanabata textiles. The Ogori Government Office Ruins are a designated national cultural property, and the name Ogori is said to have been derived from its former location as the Dazaifu Guest House.
