Nakama City is located in the northeastern part of Fukuoka Prefecture, and the Onga River flows north and south through the center of the city, dividing it in two. Ninety percent of the population is concentrated on flat land in the east, while the majority of the west is farmland. It also serves as a commuter town for the Kitakyushu metropolitan area. Agriculture is the main industry, and the city is famous for its rice, wheat, soybeans, figs, and strawberries. Other local products include Sakura no Sato Daifuku and Sakura no Sato Warabimochi. As a tourist spot, there is the Kakio Rakan Hyakuketsu group of horizontal burial mounds within Kakio Park, which is a designated prefectural historic site. Koka is known for the ruins of Neko Castle, Tsukise Hachiman Shrine, and the remains of the Kuroda clan's teahouse, attracting many visitors.
