Miyawaka City was born in 2006 after merging with neighboring towns, and has restarted to make further progress. Located exactly halfway between Fukuoka City and Kitakyushu City, it is within a 30km radius of the two economic centers, making it easy to travel between them. Its main industry is the manufacture of automobile parts. It is said that the area thrived because Toyota's parts factory was located in the area. The Kyushu Expressway runs through the town. With the Wakamiya Interchange, it is used by many people from both the local area and outside the prefecture. Major tourist attractions include historical sites such as Takehara Kofun and Isobeyama.
