Tachiarai Town in Mii District is located on the Chikugo Plain and has a flat topography. Neighboring municipalities include Asakura City, Ogori City, Kurume City, and Chikuzen Town in Asakura District. Due to its proximity to Kurume City, some residents of Tachiarai Town in Mii District commute to Kurume City. The town is home to the Shimotakahashi Government Office Ruins, a national historic site, and Imamura Catholic Church, a designated tangible cultural property of Fukuoka Prefecture. Built in the Romanesque style, Imamura Catholic Church features red bricks. The town also hosts events such as the Kitayamakuma Ward Cherry Blossom Festival and the Hibari Road Fureai Marathon.
