Kotake Town in Kurate County is located in the center of Fukuoka Prefecture, bordering three other cities within the prefecture and approximately 40 kilometers from Fukuoka City and Kitakyushu City. The Minamiyoshi Lion Dance, said to have originated over 350 years ago, is a traditional performing art that has been passed down in this area. This dance can be seen in various areas during summer events. A popular tourist attraction is the steam locomotive "Arco," on display at the Central Community Center. This American-made locomotive is one of only two in Japan and is highly acclaimed. A giant Japanese quince tree towers over Kinu-Hoshi Shrine, known as a rare natural plant. Other notable sites include the Three Wise Monkeys Tower and the Hyaku Jizo Statue.
