About Katsura River Town
Katsuragawa Town in Kaho District borders Iizuka City and Kama City. The town is home to the Honami River and Izumikawachi River. The town was once home to a thriving coal mine. However, with the decline of the coal industry, all mines have closed. Currently, efforts are being made to reclaim the land and turn it into an industrial park. Haji ware is a traditional craft, produced in the central part of Katsuragawa Town in Kaho District. Tourist attractions include the Ozuka Kofun and Ozuka Decorated Kofun Museum, designated as special national historic sites. Events include the Katsuragawa Summer Festival and Jizo Festival in August, the Haji Lion Dance and Sunflower Festival, designated as a prefectural intangible folk cultural asset in September, and the Ancient Mystery Festival in October.
