About Koga City
Koga City is located approximately 15 km from Fukuoka City and has developed as a commuter town. During the Edo period, it flourished as a post town due to its location on the Karatsu Kaido road. Currently, the food processing and tourism industries are thriving. Local specialties include Yamamisaka navel oranges, hijiki seaweed, Karaka vinegar, and Hakata Amaou strawberries. Known tourist spots include Gosho Hachimangu Shrine and Kumano Shrine. Kumano Shrine has 224 stone steps, and the worship hall features precious carvings. Kozan-en Garden and Iouji Temple are also famous cherry blossom viewing spots, attracting many visitors during the season.
