Hakata Ward, Fukuoka City, is one of the administrative wards that make up Fukuoka City and is also the prefectural capital. With Hakata Station, Hakata Port, Fukuoka Airport, and National Route 3 running through it, Hakata Ward serves as a transportation hub. Located in the eastern part of Fukuoka City, its northwestern edge faces Hakata Bay. Functioning as a distribution hub centered around Hakata Port, the area has long flourished as a port town and commercial city, and is a central urban area alongside Tenjin.
