Toho Village, Asakura District, Fukuoka Prefecture, was established through a merger in 2005. It borders Oita Prefecture. The entire region is covered in mountain forests, characterized by a topography resembling a bird perched on a branch. Many of the region's specialties use yuzu. They even produce some unusual products, such as yuzu popsicles, yuzu ginger, and yuzu ice cream. Taking advantage of the region's excellent natural environment, they also cultivate bok choy, which has a pleasant texture. There are also many potteries scattered throughout the area. Famous examples include Koishiwara ware and Takatori ware, which produce simple yet elegant pieces. There are many successors, and they are working to develop these crafts into the future while cherishing their traditions and history.
