Tsuruga City experiences strong seasonal winds in winter, but the climate is still said to be milder than other areas along the Sea of Japan coast. The city is surrounded by many mountains, including Iwagoroyama and Nishikatagatake, as well as the Tsuruga Peninsula. The city's industries include manufacturing, transportation, and fishing.
