About Oono City
Ono City, Fukui Prefecture, is located in the northeastern part of the prefecture and was formed in 1954 by the merger of two towns and six villages, including Ono Town. With a total area of 872.30 square kilometers, over 80% of the city is covered by forest, and with numerous rivers, including the Kuzuryu River, the town is characterized by its abundant nature. Echizen Ono is blessed with a variety of famous waters, including Okimizu, which has been selected as one of Japan's 100 Famous Waters. Many specialty products utilize these waters, including delicious local sake, yokan, and soy sauce. Ono City is also a snowy region, surrounded by the 1,000-meter-high spurs of Mount Haku. As a result, snow-related festivals, such as the Echizen Ono Winter Story, are held every year, attracting many visitors from within and outside the prefecture.
