Yawatahama City is located in the southwestern part of Ehime Prefecture. It was formed in 2005 through a merger with Honai Town. Its neighboring municipalities are Ozu City, Seiyo City, and Ikata Town. The city has long been a thriving fishing port, boasting one of the largest fish markets in Shikoku. The city has little flat land, and the city's many slopes are utilized for citrus cultivation. Local specialties include seafood, Satsuma mandarins, and champon. Jakoten (baby sardine tempura) and kamaboko (fish cakes) are also made from seafood. Tourist attractions include Cape Suwazaki, Fish Farm Sea Road Yawatahama, and Atagoyama Park.
