Niihama City, Ehime Prefecture, is located in the eastern part of the prefecture, bordering Saijo City, Shikokuchuo City, and Kochi Prefecture. It is blessed with abundant nature, including mountains, rivers, and ponds. Summers can be some of the hottest in the country, and snow can fall along the mountains in winter. Local events include the Udo-okuri festival in winter, the Niihama Summer Fireworks Festival in summer, and the Niihama Taiko Festival in autumn. Tourist attractions include the Ehime Prefectural Museum of Nature and Science, which features a large planetarium, and Ichinomiya Shrine, home to a camphor tree over 1,000 years old that has been designated a national natural monument. Other attractions include Ikedaike Park, Choshi Falls, and Yuragi no Mori. Local specialties include pufferfish jelly and Besshi candy.
