Kihoku Town in Kitauwa District is surrounded by the Onigajo Mountain Range and deep, secluded mountains and valleys, with rivers such as the Hiromi River and Sanma River flowing through the town. Taking advantage of this rich natural environment, agriculture, primarily rice farming, is a thriving industry. Sweetfish, carp, and eels are also caught in the Hiromi River. Local specialties include turmeric, yuzu, miso, and yam. The town is home to numerous tourist attractions where you can fully enjoy the natural beauty. At Setsuyasu Fureai no Mori, you can enjoy stream fishing and hands-on learning, and in the summer, you can enjoy somen noodle nagashi. Other historic sites include Tomyo-ji Temple, Zenkoji Yakushido Hall, and Yasumori Limestone Cave, all nationally designated historic sites. The Yumesanchi Green Festival is held every April, featuring lively songs and events. In May, the Satsuki Festival is held, where you can admire the vibrant colors of the Satsuki azalea.
