Yotsukaido City in Chiba Prefecture borders Chiba City and Sakura City and enjoys convenient transportation via trains, buses, and expressways. Established in 1955, the city's name comes from the four highways that run through it. There was talk of merging with Chiba City in 2004, but the plan was scrapped after a referendum. Yotsukaido City is home to elementary, middle, and high schools, as well as a junior college and university. Local events include the Yotsukaido Hometown Festival and the Yotsukaido City Industry Festival. Famous people from the area include freelance announcer Aiko Minato and actor Tomoe Hasegawa, who has appeared in numerous television dramas and films.
