Yachiyo City is the birthplace of housing complexes in Japan, and residential development is still ongoing. The construction of Japan's first housing complex, Yachiyodai Danchi, led to a rapid increase in population. Rivers such as the Katsuta River and Takatsu River flow through the city, all of which are part of the Tone River system. Industries include agriculture, manufacturing, and commerce. Pear production is thriving on the plateau, as are crops such as spinach and carrots. Tourist attractions include the Keisei Rose Garden and the Shinkawa Promenade. Events include the Yachiyo Hometown Parent-Child Festival, held every August and featuring numerous fireworks displays.
