About Yokoshibahikari Town
Yokoshibahikari Town in Sanbu District was newly formed in 2006 through the merger of two towns. The town boasts the white sand and green pine trees of the Kujukuri Beach, and the Kuriyama River runs through its center, making it a popular fishing spot for black bass, carp, eels, and gobies. Blessed with the warm climate of the Pacific Ocean, agriculture and livestock farming thrive here. Rice, corn, leeks, tomatoes, pears, and strawberries are cultivated here. The town's specialty is the long leek, "Hikari Negi." The road along the coast from the town hall is lined with leek fields. Another popular dish is "Nourishing Meshi," a rice bowl of stewed offal. A variety of seafood is landed at Kuriyamagawa Fishing Port, including sardines, mackerel, horse mackerel, flounder, flatfish, and turban shells.
