Shibayama Town, Sanbu District, borders seven cities and towns in Chiba Prefecture and is known for the numerous archaeological sites that have been excavated. Part of Narita International Airport is located within the town, making it a designated international airport special zone. Agriculture is thriving, with a variety of crops grown, including radishes, corn, peppers, watermelons, melons, and broad beans. A popular tourist attraction is the Shibayama Kofun and Haniwa Museum, where visitors can learn about the history and lifestyle of the Kofun period. The Haniwa Festival is held in November, and events such as a sale of local specialty products and a rice cake pounding competition are held. In summer, the waterside village offers the opportunity to observe the magical dance of fireflies, and the Firefly Summer Festival is also held.
