Otaki Town in Isumi County is blessed with lush greenery. Approximately 70% of the town's total area is forest. Otaki has a history of thriving as a castle town since the Sengoku period, and remains a site where you can sense the history of that time. Otaki Castle, designated as a Chiba Prefecture historic site, is particularly famous, and currently displays swords, armor, and clothing. Yoro Valley, selected as one of Japan's 100 most geologically significant areas, is also famous. Hiking trails are also well-maintained, attracting many tourists. Bamboo shoots are a local specialty, and are highly rated for their low bitterness and delicious taste. From April to May, you can even experience digging your own bamboo shoots.
