About Onjuku Town
Onjuku Town in Isumi District, Chiba Prefecture, is a coastal town with a famous beach on the Boso Peninsula, perfect for summer swimming. It's said that the children's song "Desert of the Moon" originated here. It borders Katsuura City and Isumi City. This region's specialties are spiny lobster and abalone. Onjuku Fishing Port and Iwawada Fishing Port are fishing grounds. This area is rich in food, resulting in the harvest of vibrantly colored spiny lobster and thick, tender abalone, both of which are delicious as sashimi or boiled abalone. Transportation options include JR East's Onjuku Station on the Sotobo Line and express buses to Tokyo and Shizuoka.
