About Funabashi City
Funabashi City is located in the northwestern part of Chiba Prefecture. Field farming thrives in the hilly region, with pear and carrot production particularly high. Fishing is also thriving, with seaweed farming taking place. This seaweed is sold under the brand name "Sanbanze Nori." The city hosts many popular festivals, including the Funabashi Daijingu Shrine Lighthouse Festival, the Komuro Lion Festival, and the Funabashi Citizens' Festival. Funabashi Andersen Park, comprised of four areas, was named after Andersen, who was born in Odense, Denmark, the city's sister city. Popular attractions include LaLaport TOKYO-BAY, with its shops and restaurants catering to a wide range of generations, and IKEA Funabashi, the first Japanese store of the Swedish company.
