About Gonohe Town
Gonohe Town, Sannohe District, is located in the northern part of Sannohe District, Aomori Prefecture. More than half of the town is covered by forest. Gonohe Town is also designated as an urban planning area. In 2004, the town became the new Gonohe Town with the incorporation of Kuraishi Village. The Gonohe River and Asamizu River flow through the town. The town has a free community bus, the "Gonohe Chinchin Bus," which serves the central Gonohe shopping district and is an important means of transportation for the town's residents. Cultural assets include the Edo Family Residence, designated a nationally important cultural property; Hofuku-ji Temple, a prefectural treasure; and the former Enshi Family Residence. The town's festivals, the Gonohe Festival and the Nanbu Koma Dance, attract many visitors.
