Located in the center of Aomori Prefecture, Kuroishi City is blessed with abundant nature and offers beautiful scenery throughout the four seasons. It is easily accessible, with Aomori Airport and the Tohoku Expressway running through it. "Komise" in Nakamachi is a wooden arcade street that remains today from the days of the Kuroishi domain. Designated one of Japan's 100 Best Roads, this street is steeped in history and charm. Local specialties include Kuroishi Tsuyu Yakisoba, which is based on Kuroishi Yakisoba and is made by pouring tsuyu over Kuroishi Yakisoba and topping it with fried tempura bits and green onions, and rice named "Tsugaru Roman." The Kuroishi Nebuta Festival is held in late July, attracting many tourists.
