Noheji Town, Kamikita District, is located in Aomori Prefecture's northern peninsula. The area is known for its susceptibility to the Yamase winds, resulting in cold weather throughout the year and heavy snowfall in the winter. Previously, the area developed as the core of Aomori Prefecture, primarily through commerce, but has recently seen a decline due to road and business changes. However, scallop fishing is very popular, and although it is farmed, the area has begun to revitalize the region through careful cultivation. Noheji Town, Kamikita District, is home to many hardware stores and restaurants. Local specialties include Chinese yam, small turnip, and kutsume tea. Many local dishes use these ingredients, with scallop miso shellfish grilling and simmered dish being representative.
