About Yokote City
Yokote City has the second largest population after Akita City. It thrives mainly on agriculture, and is especially famous for its cherries. The Akita Expressway and Yuzawa-Yokote Road are its main transportation routes. Tourist attractions include Omori Park and Masato Park. These two parks are famous as Yokote City's cherry blossom viewing spots, with many cherry trees in full bloom in the spring. During cherry blossom viewing season, Omori Park holds a cherry blossom festival, and you can pick cherries at Oku Cherry Farm. It is also a historic place that has continued to operate since opening in 1884. Every September, Masuda Fireworks is held, the oldest fireworks display in Akita.
