About Hachimune Town
Happo Town, Yamamoto District, Akita Prefecture, is home to the Toan Maiden Statue, which commemorates those who lost their lives in the Central Japan Sea Earthquake. The town suffered extensive damage, and this statue was erected accordingly. After experiencing the devastating earthquake, Happo Town, Yamamoto District, has been reborn, and today is home to a variety of tourist attractions and lively events. On August 15th, there is the Oshima Fireworks Festival, and on August 1st, there is a rare national festival called Mikoshi no Takibabi, where people bathe in the basin of a waterfall while carrying a portable shrine. There are also hot spring facilities, and the Hachimori Isaribi Onsen Hatahatakan offers accommodation, where companies use it for overnight training sessions for new employees. It reopened in 2007.
